Christian Rom assumes further responsibility in the DNB Renewable Energy Fund

11. August 2020: Christian Rom, who has been part of the Renewable Energy team in his role as a co-portfolio manager since 2010, will take over responsibility for DNB Asset Management’s climate fund effective from August 11th. Jon Sigurdsen is leaving the Scandinavian asset manager and will focus on managing his own assets. The Renewable Energy team is set to be further strengthened.

Christian Rom (38) joined DNB Asset Management in 2010, where he has since been actively involved in the strategic direction and the management of DNB's Renewable Energy strategy. Prior to that, the business economist and Master's graduate of the Norwegian School of Management worked as a sell-side equity analyst at Carnegie Securities, where he had already specialised in the field of renewable energy.

As part of the portfolio management team for DNB's Renewable Energy strategy for more than 10 years, Christian Rom has the required in-depth knowledge and understanding to further manage and develop the fund. He has a strong track record in alpha generation and has gradually managed an increasing share of the portfolio over the years.

The impact results of his work were recently published in a comprehensive study conducted in cooperation with the company ISS-ESG. Rom shows how environmental impact can be measured through potentially avoided net emissions. The complete study can be found here.

While the Renewable Energy team is set to be further strengthened, the investment philosophy and all processes of the Renewable Energy strategy will remain unchanged. In addition, the intensive cooperation with the five-member ESG team will be successively expanded.

DNB also continues to leverage on its portfolio managers network to achieve further synergy potentials. In particular, this applies to the DNB Disruptive Opportunities strategy, to which the sector experts from DNB`s technology, health care and renewable energy equity teams have already been contributing with their investment ideas since its launch.
