DNB Fund TMT Long/Short Equities

Invest in technology with a flexible approach and balanced exposure.
Technology changes everything. The digital development drives changes in the way we live, work, and communicate, and is about to revolutionize the entire economy. Telecom, media, and technology are among the most dynamic sectors globally and now make up over 30 percent of the companies in the MSCI World Index. The sector is characterized by a high rate of innovation and shorter development cycles than many other industries, which provides great opportunities for investors who can distinguish between real value creation and overpriced expectations.
The managers aim to deliver market-neutral returns by exploiting differences between winners and losers in the sector. By combining long and short positions, the fund seeks to create more stable results through various market phases. This contributes to lower fluctuations in the fund's value compared to traditional equity funds.
The actively managed equity fund typically invests in between 60 to 80 companies from a broad range of subsectors, where the managers look for companies with attractive medium to long-term growth prospects and reasonable valuations, while also taking positions against companies with weaker fundamental prospects or high valuations.
Main investment areas:
Technological equipment and hardware, software and digital services, semiconductors and manufacturing equipment, media and entertainment industry, financial services, and investment platforms.

Comments
Stock market volatility in September, as measured by the VIX index, a widely used measure of U.S. stock market volatility, averaged at 16 for the month, below its long-term historical average. This month, the portfolio recorded an absolute return of -3.2 per cent in EUR. Year to date, the portfolio has achieved an absolute return of -3.5 per cent. Among the notable positive contributors in the long book were Skyworks, Embracer and TSMC, while Adyen, Intuit and Amazon.com detracted from performance. Skyworks contributed positively as management commentary increased confidence that the pending merger with Qorvo would close on schedule. Embracer also contributed positively, supported by continued share buybacks and improved refinancing terms, while Nordic Semiconductor rose as leading indicators pointed to third-quarter revenue and earnings above market expectations. Adyen detracted amid investor concerns that agentic commerce could disintermediate parts of the payments value chain. Intuit detracted as renewed concerns around AI-driven disruption weighed on software stocks. Amazon.com also detracted as investors focused on the potential impact of emerging AI shopping agents on its retail and advertising businesses. The technology-, media and telecom sectors are characterized by strong, stable earnings and there are several structural growth drivers in the sectors. We are still in the early innings of cloud computing and artificial intelligence and our belief is that this provides a strong foundation for growth going forward.
Standard setting
